Project: London Dock

Working alongside Kier Construction London to provide a new state of the art secondary school for Tower Hamlets council and the St George trust, housing over 1100 new students. The project consisted of multiple areas of structural steelwork ranging from feature stairs, enclosures, screens, and a bespoke pergola designed to mimic the existing.

However, the highlight of the project was several large trusses in excess of 15t each, with the trusses clear spanning over 20 meters this allowed the creation of a vast sporting complex below while allowing the support of 5 floors of the new RC structure above. In addition to the trusses were the 20+ metre span MUGA support beams, supplied in standard UB form and also as bespoke fabricated plate girders. The use of structural steelwork in lieu of RC was the key factor in allowing the structural engineer and architects vision to become reality. Hillcrest also carried out the metal decking and off-site intumescent painting of the steelwork.
